The film premiered at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, and went on to be awarded the prestigious Palme d'Or and be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture.

For his role he received the Marcello Mastroianni Award for best upcoming young actor at the 70th Venice International Film Festival.
